Mallorca's Joan Mir out of Japan and Indonesia MotoGP
Mallorca rider Joan Mir will miss the MotoGP Grands Prix in Japan and Indonesia after his symptoms worsened. The Honda HRC Castrol rider has been told to take complete rest and begin rehabilitation for the next 15 days. The cause of the health problems, which have affected him for months, is still unknown.
Mir had to pull out of the San Marino Grand Prix and had already missed Austria. Tests at Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona, overseen by MotoGP chief doctor Ángel Charte and his medical team, have not yet produced a final diagnosis.
Charte said the symptoms have been draining Mir's energy and affecting his performance, with their recent increase preventing him from racing. The Mallorcan will remain under close medical supervision, with a further update due after more tests.
Honda Racing Corporation is expected to announce shortly who will stand in for Mir at the two races. For now, the rider's treatment takes priority.
