Four left-wing parties on Menorca back Joana Barceló for a Senate seat: the former island council president is their choice to represent the island in Madrid. Barceló previously led the Consell de Menorca, the island council, and served in the regional government. She says she will stand up for farming, the protection of natural spaces and strong public services.

Pepe Mercadal, the PSOE’s leader on Menorca, says his party decided months ago that Barceló was its best choice. Noemí Garcia of Més per Menorca says the four-party agreement follows months of work. She calls Barceló a consensus candidate for parties seeking a progressive voice for Menorca in Madrid.
