Mallorca jobs: Balearic ads fall 2.6%, totals clash
Across Mallorca and the rest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, September job adverts fall 2.6% from a year ago but rise 10.5% from August. Job platform InfoJobs released the figures on Monday, 5 October. Its headline gives a September total of 5,150 adverts, while the report itself says 5,510, leaving the exact count unclear.
The reported monthly rise follows August’s 4,657 adverts. A year earlier, InfoJobs counted 5,288. The headline figure of 5,150 fits both reported percentage changes; the figure of 5,510 does not.
Across Spain, InfoJobs lists 207,984 vacancies in September, up 28% from August but down 9% from a year earlier. The monthly rise comes as normal economic activity resumes after summer. Sales adverts climb 53% from August to 35,111, while purchasing, logistics and warehouse work accounts for the largest number of vacancies, at 42,038.
Of the jobs advertised across Spain, 86,019 offer permanent contracts and 67,617 offer fixed-term contracts. Full-time work accounts for 137,940 vacancies. For anyone looking at the Balearic figures, though, the conflicting September totals remain unresolved.
