King Felipe calls for closer Balearic ties at Poblet
The first meeting of Poblet monastery’s governing board in 15 years brings a call for closer ties. On Thursday, 15 October, King Felipe VI urges the Balearics, Catalonia, the Valencian Community and Aragón to work together at the monastery in Vimbodí i Poblet, Tarragona province. Balearic president Marga Prohens attends the meeting.
The king points to the four regions’ role in preserving and managing the monastery as an example of what they can do together. They face shared challenges in other areas too, he says, and their cultural heritage gives them a reason to exchange ideas.
Poblet once linked territories of the Crown of Aragón. Felipe wants the board to build on those connections to preserve the Monastery of Santa María de Poblet and share its cultural heritage.
