Balearics labour costs climb to €3,299 a month

Labour costs in the Balearics reached an average of €3,299.20 per worker a month in the second quarter, up 4.5% on the same period in 2025. Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE) released the figures on Wednesday, 17 September. The total combines pay with social-security contributions.

Between April and June, gross pay rose 4.7% to an average €2,428.22 per worker each month. This includes all remuneration, whether paid in cash or in kind.

Pay and other costs both rise

Costs other than pay increased by 4.1% across the archipelago to €870.98 per worker a month.

The cost for each hour actually worked rose faster, climbing 6.1% to €24.19. Pay per hour reached €17.80 after a 6.21% rise, while non-pay costs rose 5.79% to €6.39 an hour.

Spanish average remains higher

Across Spain, labour costs averaged €3,388.15 per worker a month in the second quarter, 4% higher than a year earlier. Salary costs nationally also rose by 4%.

After calendar and seasonal adjustments, labour costs per worker were up 4.2% year on year and 0.8% from the previous quarter. The INE recorded 151,736 job vacancies nationwide during the quarter.
