The islands’ average delay is two days shorter than in the previous quarter, but still 4.6 days longer than Spain’s average of 14.2 days. Between July and September, 40.7% of payments arrive on time. Another 46.6% are up to 30 days late, while 3.9% are more than 120 days late.

Hospitality waits longest

After hospitality, the study records average delays of 22.9 days in administration and 18.8 days in energy. Industry has one of the shortest delays, at 10.3 days — 13.6 days less than hospitality.

Company size tells a different story

Microbusinesses make 46% of payments on time, compared with just 14% for large companies. Yet microbusinesses have the longest average delay by company size, at 16.8 days. Large companies average 14 days, while small businesses record the shortest delay, at 11.9 days.
