Mallorca hosts Spain's first Latin dance world championship
Mallorca gets Spain’s first Latin dance world championship: dancers compete in Calvià from 20 to 22 November. The Latin Adult event takes place at the Palau d'Esports Melani Costa, with samba, cha-cha-cha, rumba, paso doble and jive on the programme. Calvià Town Council says Spanish pair Guillem Pascual and Diandra Aniella will compete, aiming for the leading places before a Mallorca audience.
The council expects dancers, support teams, delegations and fans from different countries. Holding the championship in November is part of its plan to bring activity to Calvià outside the busiest tourist months, using the municipality’s sports facilities and accommodation.
Co-organisers Jordi Fàbrega and Valeri Ivanov call the championship a “unique opportunity”. Those who cannot attend are expected to be able to watch live through the World DanceSport Federation and DanceSport Total channels.
