Mallorca’s Libertas crisis centre is set to keep helping victims of sexual violence around the clock in 2026: the Balearic government has authorised €575,471 to fund its operation. The government approved the direct grant to the Council of Mallorca on Friday, 23 October, through the Balearic Women’s Institute (IBDona). Government spokesman Antoni Costa announced the decision after the cabinet meeting.

The Instituto Reinserción Social Foundation (IRES) runs the centre 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It provides specialist help to victims, their families and people close to them. The grant is intended to keep that service running.

The funding forms part of Spain’s State Pact against Gender-Based Violence, which includes support for 24-hour crisis centres for victims of sexual violence. The grant will be paid in full, with no guarantee required beforehand.
