Mallorca care home adds 10 public support places

Ten more residential places at Residencia de Llevant have joined the public support network from 1 September. The move takes the number of government-contracted places at the home to 45 out of 80. The Department of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care says the extra places will help more people needing care get support close to their usual surroundings.

María Castro, director general for Dependency Care and People with Disabilities, said each added place gives another person who needs that support a chance to receive it. She visited the home and met people using the service and its staff.

The Govern began the current term with 30 contracted places at Residencia de Llevant. It added five last year and a further 10 this month, a rise of 15 places or 50 per cent.

Castro said the aim is to keep strengthening the public network with places and resources to respond more fully to the needs of people with disabilities and their families.
