More than 5,000 people are expected to walk overnight to Lluc, Mallorca, on 12 to 13 September. The 45th Pujada a Lluc a peu de la Part Forana, a pilgrimage on foot, has more than €120,000 in backing from the Consell de Mallorca. A safety plan will coordinate 200 people along the route.

The island council is organising the traditional walk for the second year running. It stepped in after the Blauets de Lluc said last year that they could no longer take it on because they lacked the resources.

Two operations centres will be set up, one in Inca and another in Lluc. The plan brings together mayors from several municipalities, road services, civil protection, local police, emergency crews, the Guardia Civil and health services. Refreshment points will be available, while a digital communications system is intended to keep coverage running for the whole route.
