Palma lorry crash: worker seriously injured

A 52-year-old worker was seriously injured when a reversing lorry struck him at the Carrefour shopping centre on General Riera in Palma, Mallorca, at about 10.30am on Saturday 22 August. The man became trapped during the incident.

The SAMU 061 emergency medical service stabilised him at the scene. He had multiple injuries and was taken by ambulance, with advance notice, to Son Espases University Hospital, where he was admitted in a serious condition.

Palma Local Police are treating the case as a road traffic incident, although the man was apparently working when he was hit. The force's Accident Vehicle Unit has taken over the investigation and is gathering information to establish how the collision happened.
