Formentera lung specialists spare patients Ibiza trips

At Formentera Hospital, lung specialists now see patients on the island, sparing some the trip to Can Misses Hospital on Ibiza for consultations and diagnostic tests. The lung medicine service, known as pulmonology, has been travelling to Formentera since early September. The Pityusic Islands Health Area says patients have already avoided the journey.
The addition brings the hospital’s total to 24 services. Six specialists make up the lung medicine team. In 2025, it handled 5,698 consultations and tests at Can Misses Hospital, including 109 consultations and 104 diagnostic tests for patients from Formentera.
