Mallorca craft awards open with €39,000 in prizes
On the Spanish island of Mallorca, craftspeople can now enter awards worth €39,000 in total. Applications opened on Friday, 23 October 2026, and the deadline is 15 working days later. The Mallorca Island Council is running the awards for the 13th time.
What the prizes pay
The top award carries €7,000. It recognises the quality of a locally made product and a commitment to sustainability. Awards for craft tradition, design and innovation, and the promotion of crafts each carry €5,000.
Long-life food products, short-life food products and craft fashion each have a €4,000 award. A €2,000 prize aims to help new talent enter the trade. There is also an honorary career award and up to three commendations worth €1,000 each. Last year, glass artist Gabi Ignaci Madrid won the top prize for his work Algues.
How to enter
Each applicant can submit one piece or product for no more than two categories. The requirements, documents and other conditions are set out in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands, known as the BOIB.
