Mallorca fuel prices: diesel could jump €0.24
Diesel on Mallorca could cost up to €0.24 more a litre from 1 October unless tax relief returns, service-station operators say. Petrol could rise by €0.06 a litre across the Balearic Islands and Peninsular Spain. The Spanish Confederation of Service Station Entrepreneurs (CEEES) has asked Spain’s government for urgent tax action.
The group wants a reduced VAT rate of 10% on motor fuel and a temporary cut in the special hydrocarbons tax. It says international markets are sharply raising the cost of buying fuel for Spanish filling stations, pushing up forecourt prices and putting businesses at risk.
CEEES president Javier de Antonio said the government should bring back the tax tools used in spring. The confederation points to rising Brent crude prices and particularly intense pressure on refined fuel markets, with diesel becoming far more expensive.
Without immediate tax relief, the group expects the average price paid at pumps in the Balearic Islands and Peninsular Spain to rise sharply from 1 October.
