Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, has a stake in a proposed funding reform: Spain’s finance minister says there will be no new system for the regions if PP and Vox take power. Arcadi España made the warning in Valencia, Spain, on Friday, 6 November. Spain holds a general election on 29 November.

The plan would change how Spain funds its autonomous communities, including the Balearic Islands. España gave no figure for the islands, but warned that the Valencian Community would miss out on €3,669 million under PP and Vox. He also said PP had yet to set out its own funding plan.

If Pedro Sánchez remains prime minister, España says his next government will bring its proposal to Congress and complete the parliamentary process in the first months of 2027. He promises the new model will take effect that year.
