Mallorca heat warning: 36ºC expected inland Saturday

Mallorca’s interior is under a yellow heat warning on Saturday, with temperatures possibly reaching 36ºC between 12.00 and 19.00. Spain’s state weather agency, Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet), issued the warning. The Balearic Islands are expected to see mostly lightly clouded skies.

Mallorca is among the areas facing heat alerts as temperatures stay high for the time of year. Aemet expects temperatures above 35ºC across much of inland Spain and in some island locations, while 40ºC is possible in parts of the country’s south-western and north-eastern lowlands.

A weather system known as a DANA is approaching the mainland from the west, bringing more unstable conditions there. Afternoon storms are forecast in the north-west, where downpours and thunderstorms could be heavy and bring hail in Galicia, Asturias and north-western Castile and León.
