In Palma, Mallorca, MÉS per Mallorca warns that Tuesday’s general policy debate in the Balearic Parliament could be overshadowed by electioneering. Party spokesman Lluís Apesteguia said on Monday, 19 October 2026, that he had little hope for the debate, where Balearic government president Marga Prohens is due to present a package of housing measures.

Housing plans under fire

Apesteguia expects much of the debate to focus on Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez and People’s Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo. He accused the Balearic government of continuing to favour construction and the property market rather than tackling housing prices.

MÉS per Mallorca plans to propose controls on housing prices. It will also call for wider use of Catalan, action on climate change, less tourism and support for other sectors of the economy.

Heavy rain warning

The party also urged people across the Balearic Islands to take care as heavy rain and strong winds are forecast. Rainfall could reach 20 to 40 litres per square metre in an hour.

Apesteguia offered support to people affected by the severe weather brought by Adam and thanked the emergency workers dealing with its effects across the islands.
