Mallorca job offices in €2.7 million security plan
Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, is set to get security guards at its job offices: the Balearic government approved plans on Friday, 2 October 2026, to hire a firm for the islands’ offices. The proposed two-year contract has a tender budget of 2.7 million euros.
The offices belong to the Balearic Employment Service (SOIB). A report it prepared in September says guards are needed to protect its property and the people who come to its offices. The Balearic government says SOIB has no staff of its own to provide security, so a qualified firm would take on the work.
The contract would be split into three parts: one for Mallorca, one for Menorca and one for Eivissa and Formentera. The service is due to begin on 1 January 2027, or when the contract is signed if that happens later. Security costs at offices shared with the State Public Employment Service could be covered by funds allocated each year.
