Mallorca litter clean-up: sign up by 30 October

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca volunteers can organise a litter clean-up in a natural space on the island: the Spain-wide campaign runs from 31 October to 8 November 2026. They can set up a collection point or join one already listed, with registration open until 30 October. The LIBERA project, run by SEO/BirdLife with Ecoembes, is behind the drive.

Organisers say the autumn campaign aims to clear waste from places that need attention after summer, when beaches, mountains, rivers and recreation areas see more people.

How to take part

Individuals, associations, schools, companies and public bodies can organise a collection point in any natural space in Spain. Volunteers can also find existing points on a map on LIBERA’s website and register to join one. For collection points on the Spanish mainland, materials can be sent until 25 October.

What the collected waste reveals

Volunteers can identify and record what they remove using the Basuraleza app. Their findings go into LIBERA’s national database, which tracks the most common types of waste, where they gather and how the problem changes.

LIBERA is holding two collection campaigns in 2026 for the first time. At the first, in June, 13,739 volunteers collected 148.6 tonnes of waste at 919 points across Spain. The autumn drive also forms part of Let’s Clean Up Europe, a European waste-collection initiative that runs until the end of November.
