Mallorca party skips November election to target 2027

In Palma, Mallorca, Coalició per Mallorca is staying out of the 29 November general election: it is putting its efforts into regional and municipal elections in May 2027. The party announced the decision on 26 October. It says it needs to build its organisation across the island first.

Coalició per Mallorca is not yet a year old. Its general coordinator, Joan Serra, says local party councils are taking shape quickly, but the general election comes while the party is still being formed. Over the coming months, it plans to set up more local councils, strengthen municipal teams, bring in new people and develop policies addressing Mallorcans’ concerns.

Serra says the party wants more than a token showing. It still plans to contest the following general election, aiming to win a seat in the Congress to represent Mallorca’s interests.
