Mallorca ports: €985,666 for moorings and underwater work
Mallorca’s ports are set for €985,666 of maintenance: moorings and underwater structures in the island’s south-east and north-east will be checked and repaired where needed. Ports de Balears (PortsIB) has awarded two contracts, the Balearic Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle said on Wednesday, 28 October. Both have an initial term of two years.
Where the money goes
The south-east contract is worth €539,055. It covers the ports of Portocristo, Portocolom, Portopetro, Cala Figuera and Colònia de Sant Jordi, along with the harbour facilities at s’Estanyol and the d’es Coto ramp.
The north-east contract is worth €446,611. It covers the ports of Pollença, Cala Rajada and Cala Bona, facilities at es Barcarès, s’Oberta and Formentor, and moorings managed directly at Colònia de Sant Pere.
Checks, repairs and seabed work
The contracts cover planned inspections and repairs, with worn or damaged parts replaced where needed. Work includes mooring systems, rings, cleats, ladders and protective fenders, as well as structures that require underwater or marine equipment.
Workers may also remove objects from the seabed and clear anything that affects water depth. The contracts allow for the placement of navigation markers, the refloating or salvage of boats, and small repairs or changes to harbour facilities where needed to meet regulations or improve how they work.
