Mallorca prosecutor tipped for Balearic deputy

Mallorca’s anti-drugs prosecutor María Dolores Rial de la Calle is in line to become deputy prosecutor for the Balearic Islands. Spain’s Attorney General, Teresa Peramato, will put her name before the Government on Friday, 25 September. Rial has worked at the Balearic prosecution service since 2009.

She joined the prosecutorial career at the top of her intake. In 2021, she became the specialist anti-drugs prosecutor for Eivissa, before taking on the same role for Mallorca in 2024.

Peramato highlighted Rial’s work on complex drug-trafficking cases involving organised groups with significant international links. Such investigations can involve many suspects, extensive inquiries and high-responsibility trials.

Rial has also received the Guardia Civil Merit Medal with a white distinction. Peramato said the selections were based on the candidates’ merit, ability, experience, CVs and proposed work plans. The Government will now receive the proposal.
