Mallorca rain alert: heavy showers possible on Wednesday

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca, Spain, faces a rain alert on Wednesday: heavy or persistent showers and thunderstorms could hit parts of the Balearic Islands. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, expects very cloudy or overcast skies across the islands. Daytime highs are forecast to rise despite the rain risk.

Aemet says unsettled weather will continue along parts of the Mediterranean coast. Subtropical air arriving from the south-west will also make conditions less stable in southern mainland Spain.

Mallorca is not under an orange rain warning. That higher-level warning applies to Almería and parts of Murcia, where rain on the coast could become locally very heavy late in the day.
