Mallorca faces light rain as mainland storms threaten

Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, faces light rain on Monday, 28 September, while heavy showers and thunderstorms threaten parts of mainland Spain. The Spanish state weather agency, Aemet, has issued rain or thunderstorm warnings across several mainland regions. Catalonia has an orange warning for both from 21.00 to 23.00.

Cold air high above the mainland is behind the unsettled weather, Aemet says. Showers could be locally heavy, with isolated hail possible.

In the Balearic Islands, low cloud and light rain are forecast alongside a moderate easterly wind. Daytime highs should stay steady, while overnight lows rise. Aemet lists no weather warning for the islands. On the mainland, warnings generally begin in the afternoon and continue into the late evening.
