Mallorca faces 10ºC temperature drop on Wednesday
Mallorca and the rest of the Balearics face a sharp cool-down on Wednesday, with daytime highs in many areas 6 to 10ºC lower than on Tuesday. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, also warns of rain and showers across the islands, some heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Strong or very strong gusts are possible as a northerly wind picks up.
The change comes as a weather front moves across mainland Spain, followed by a colder air mass. While some Mediterranean areas, the Balearics and southern Spain may still exceed 30ºC, the agency expects markedly lower temperatures across much of the country.
Conditions are expected to settle again on Thursday, although leftover showers may still reach the Balearics before dawn. Daytime temperatures should then begin to rise, with generally stable weather and little rain forecast for Friday and the weekend.
