Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca is under a yellow wave warning on Thursday, alongside every other Balearic island. Ibiza and Formentera also face yellow alerts for rain and thunderstorms. Spain’s state weather agency, AEMET, says showers with thunderstorms are likely overnight and early in the morning, and could be heavy or locally very heavy.

Waves around the islands, storms in the south

The wave warning applies across the whole Balearic Islands. The rain and thunderstorm alerts are focused on Ibiza and Formentera, the Pitiusas Islands.

Cloudy skies and showers are expected there during the night and early hours. Later, skies should become mostly clear or only lightly clouded, although an isolated shower may linger.

Strong winds in northern Balearics

Winds will be strong at times in the north of the Balearics. AEMET also expects probable very strong gusts in Ampurdán on the Spanish mainland.

Daytime temperatures are set to fall across the Balearics, while night-time lows are expected to change little.
