Mallorca wildfires: 55 blazes hit 29.61 hectares
Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, accounts for 55 wildfires affecting 29.61 hectares in the first nine months of 2026. That is 65% of the 85 fires recorded across the islands, according to the Balearic Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment. Across the archipelago, fires affected 36.46 hectares.
Ibiza recorded 21 fires affecting 4.7 hectares. Formentera had six fires affecting 0.34 hectares, while Menorca had three affecting 1.81 hectares.
The high-risk wildfire season ends on 15 October, but the department says the danger remains. It urges people to use common sense and take great care.
