Mallorca pay talks: outgoing council may take seats
On Mallorca, representatives elected four years ago could negotiate pay and working hours for staff at the public company Gestión Sanitaria y Asistencial de Baleares (Gsaib), despite a new works council vote due in mid-November. On 7 October, the union USO accused USAE and FS-TES of trying to have the current council negotiate the collective agreement. USO says the council’s normal term ended on 9 June, but its members remain in office.
CCOO and UGT filed notice of the election in early October. A week later, FS-TES and USAE filed a formal notice concerning the collective agreement. The law allows a month to set up the bargaining panel, which could leave its membership settled just days before the vote.
That would put representatives chosen four years ago at the table for talks on pay, hours and working conditions, USO says, rather than those staff choose in November.
