Mallorca’s Manacor Hospital has 200 beds, but women’s group Dones de Llevant says it needs more than 400. At a press conference in Manacor on Monday, 2 November 2026, the group set out its demands for political parties ahead of the 29 November elections. It also wants more staff and for the hospital to provide abortions.

More beds and staff

The group says 165,000 people live in Manacor and the surrounding Llevant area. It argues that the hospital needs more beds to serve them, along with more doctors and a more stable workforce.

To help cut waiting lists, it proposes afternoon specialist appointments and some operations, if health staff wish to work those hours. It also wants financial incentives for staff who work only in the public health service, and says public money should go to public care rather than outsourcing to private providers.

Waiting lists and unanswered requests

Dones de Llevant says waits are too long, particularly for people with long-term conditions and those awaiting planned surgery. It puts the wait for a family doctor’s appointment at two or three weeks. The group also wants more staff and equipment for gynaecology services.

It welcomes improvements to the hospital’s outpatient rooms and operating theatres but says they are not enough. According to the group, requests sent to hospital management in March and September 2026 remain unanswered. Plans for the new Na Camel·la health centre have yet to be made clear.
