Menorca’s Marc Pons to steer PSOE climate plans
Marc Pons of the Balearic island of Menorca is to write and coordinate the Spanish Socialist Party’s environmental proposals for the 29 November election. Party president Cristina Narbona gave him the job, the Balearic Socialists said on 18 October.
The proposals will cover energy, the environment, biodiversity and natural resources. They will also address transport, farming, industry, animal welfare and climate change.
The Balearic Socialists called the appointment recognition of Menorca’s record on protecting its landscape and environment. Pons said he was grateful for the trust placed in him and described the task as an important challenge. He cast the election as a choice between protecting nature and natural resources, and an approach he said puts them at risk.
