Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, has a familiar name at the top of the People’s Party (PP) list for the 29 November general election: José Vicente Marí Bosó is seeking to keep his seat in Spain’s Congress of Deputies. The party’s leader on Eivissa (Ibiza) has been chosen to lead its Balearic list again, party sources confirmed on 20 October.

Marí Bosó has served as a deputy spokesperson for the PP in Congress during the current parliamentary term and has also spoken for the party on budgets. Who will join him on the list is not yet known. The deadline to register candidates with the provincial electoral board is Monday, but the PP is announcing its names in stages.

Marí Bosó thanked party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo and his colleagues for backing him. He said he wanted to bring political change to Spain and put Feijóo in government. If the PP takes power, he said, it would seek greater progress and wellbeing for people in the Balearics, alongside measures introduced by the regional government under Marga Prohens.
