Spain’s hotel chief now has two roles in the country’s employers’ federation: Jorge Marichal joins its executive committee and becomes vice-chair of its tourism commission. The board of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE) approved the appointments on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, as it settled its leadership for the next four years. Marichal heads the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (Cehat).

Cehat says the roles will let him bring hotels’ priorities and needs into the employers’ federation’s discussions. Marichal thanked the board for its confidence and said Spanish tourism needs unity, dialogue and a strong channel of communication with public authorities.

He has led Cehat since December 2019 and the hotel association Ashotel, which covers Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, since December 2011. He is also chief executive of Macaronesian Hotels & Resorts.
