Mallorca and Balearics see 579 marriage split filings
Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands see 579 applications for divorce, separation or annulment reach the courts from 1 April to 30 June 2026. That is 10% fewer than in the same period last year. The figures come from the statistics service of Spain’s General Council of the Judiciary.
Divorce applications account for most of the total. Couples file 432 by agreement, down 5.1% on a year earlier. Another 137 are contested, a sharper fall of 21.7%. Separation applications are fewer: six by agreement, down 25%, and three contested, up 50%.
The Balearic rate is still above Spain’s average. The islands record 46.3 applications to dissolve a marriage per 100,000 people, against 43.6 across Spain. The council bases those rates on population figures from 1 January 2026.
Nationally, courts receive 21,433 applications in the second quarter, up 0.4% on the same period in 2025. The Balearic total moves in the opposite direction.
