Mallorca’s Barceló names Marta vice-president for EMEA

Marta Barceló Fontirroig has been named EMEA vice-president of Barceló Hotel Group, the hotel business founded in Felanitx, Mallorca. Announced on 24 September, the job comes alongside her existing post as president of Crestline Hotels & Resorts, the group’s US subsidiary.

The move brings another member of the Barceló family’s fourth generation into management. The company began as a transport business in Felanitx in 1931 and now operates in about 30 countries, with nearly 300 hotels and more than 65,000 rooms.

A bigger role alongside the US business

Barceló Fontirroig joined the family firm in 2023 after working at EY and The Ritz-Carlton. She first worked as a business development analyst at Crestline before taking charge of the US hotel manager.

She joined the group’s management committee and became Crestline’s president in 2025. She is also a board member of Barceló Corporación Empresarial.

Family succession continues

The board’s line-up remains unchanged. Simón Barceló Tous stays co-president alongside his cousin, Simón Pedro Barceló Vadell, who is also chief executive.

In January 2026, Simón Barceló Tous stepped back from executive duties when he turned 65, as required by the company’s statutes. Simón Pedro Barceló Vadell has said he expects to leave executive work around 2031, the group’s 100th anniversary, by which time the fourth generation is expected to be fully established in leadership.

Antonio Tovar Barceló, another fourth-generation family member, has already taken on roles in Latin America and later became chief executive for the region.
