Mallorca health institute names Marta Monjo deputy
Palma, Mallorca: the board of the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa) approves a four-year term for Marta Monjo Cabrer as deputy scientific director. The Balearic Islands Health Department announced the appointment on Tuesday, 29 September. Monjo succeeds Julia García, who held the post in recent years.
Monjo is a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of the Balearic Islands. Her research covers regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, new medical materials and advanced therapies. She completed her doctorate at the university in 2004 and carried out research at the University of Oslo. Her work includes more than 100 scientific publications and several patents.
She already has a role in shaping research at IdISBa. Monjo represents science and health technology on its internal scientific committee and sits on its innovation committee. She also co-leads a tissue engineering and cell therapy research group and coordinates a doctoral programme in public health and common diseases.
