Palma police arrest woman over massage-job prostitution

A woman has been arrested in Palma after police said she pressured women into prostitution through massage-job adverts. The National Police detained her at the start of the week on suspicion of sexual exploitation. Investigators say the women had irregular immigration status and could not access the labour market.

The Provincial Immigration and Borders Brigade says the suspect placed adverts seeking masseuses. The women accepted because of financial need, police said, and all were helping to support family finances in their countries of origin.

After an initial exchange on a messaging app, the woman allegedly invited applicants to an interview and described the work as “massages with stimulation”. Police say that, once the women arrived at the address, they discovered they were also expected to offer sex for money. They could provide massages alone, but would earn less, investigators said.

According to the investigation, clients’ payments had to be handed to the suspect immediately. At the end of each day, the women allegedly received 60% of the money earned while she kept 40%.

Police also say the woman regularly weighed some of the women and urged them to lose weight. In some cases, she allegedly suggested cosmetic surgery, advanced the money herself and later demanded repayment with interest.
