Palma: €1 donations open for medical research

A €1 donation can now fund biomedical research in Palma. The Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa) launched its donations platform on Thursday, 24 September. People, businesses and organisations can make one-off or regular donations, either to IdISBa’s work as a whole or to a specific project.

The platform is intended to channel support into research aimed at improving health and quality of life across the Balearic Islands. IdISBa manager Carlos Enrique Herrero said each contribution could help build knowledge, drive innovation and support more precise, effective medicine.

Cancer, childhood stroke and sight research

The projects currently available include cancer research and studies into childhood stroke. Donations can also support a regenerative medicine project aimed at restoring sight.

Another option is the development of the simulation and 3D printing unit at Son Espases University Hospital.

Fundraising through events and legacies

The platform also allows people to set up their own fundraising drives. Birthdays, weddings, sporting races, concerts and exhibitions can all be used to raise money for research.

Businesses have their own routes to support the work. IdISBa also lists charitable bequests as a way to contribute to scientific advances for future generations.
