Mekong cruise: Laos luxury trip starts at $5,175

A five-night Mekong cruise from Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to Luang Prabang starts at $5,175 per couple. Avani Hotels & Resorts launched the combined hotel-and-river journey on 17 September 2026. The route ends in Unesco World Heritage-listed Luang Prabang.

The package, called The Bohème Journey, includes stays in Avani hotels, transfers, excursions and full board on the riverboat Bohème. Mekong Kingdoms operates the 50-metre vessel, which carries 26 passengers in 13 cabins and suites, each with a private balcony.

Hotels and stops on the route

The journey begins at the Avani+ Lanexang Vientiane, which opened this summer and has 197 rooms. The Avani hotel in Luang Prabang has 53 rooms.

Excursions include Xayaboury Elephant Sanctuary and the Kuang Si waterfalls. Guests can arrive through Wattay International Airport in Vientiane from China, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, then finish in Luang Prabang without retracing the route.

Package price

Avani, part of Minor Hotels, says the package price begins at $5,175 per couple. It combines the five-night cruise with hotel stays, transfers and the listed trips.
