Melib charging network reaches 1,425 points in the Balearic Islands
The Melib charging network has reached 1,425 charging points across the Balearic Islands, the regional Department of Business, Self-Employment and Energy said in Palma, Mallorca, on 21 August 2026. Average network availability has risen from 60% in 2023 to 84%.
The network has added 325 points over three years, a 29.5% increase from the 1,100 recorded in 2023. Its average availability improved by 24 percentage points over the same period.
Maintenance agreements support availability
The department attributed much of the improvement to comprehensive maintenance agreements offered to public operators by the Balearic Islands Institute of Energy. The arrangement includes a 24-hour fault-reporting service and both preventative and corrective maintenance for participating charge points.
Thirty agreements with town councils were signed in 2025, rising to 39 currently. The number of municipalities with charging tariffs has also increased, from none in 2023 to 20 in 2025 and 36 in 2026.
Charging use and 2027 targets
Melib recorded 467,494 charging sessions in 2025, 44% more than in the previous year. The platform is also being made interoperable with private operators, with more than 1,000 private charging points expected to be visible in the app in 2027.
The Balearic Government aims to reach 1,500 charging points and 90% average availability by 2027. Its targets also include 75 maintenance agreements and 75 public administrations or entities using tariffs, covering all island municipalities, the four island councils and other public bodies.
