Menorca's UNESCO heritage at Antequera protection talks

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Menorca’s UNESCO-listed archaeological heritage gets a place at talks in Antequera, Málaga, this Thursday and Friday: two island delegates will join a workshop on how to understand and protect historic sites. Menorca Talayòtica Agency representatives Simón Gornés and Bàrbara Jordi will meet people from World Heritage sites in Spain, Andorra and Portugal. The Menorca Island Council says the workshop will take place at the Museum of the Dólmenes de Antequera Archaeological Complex.

Gornés is Menorca’s island councillor for the Environment, Biosphere Reserve and Cooperation; Jordi works for the agency. They will exchange ideas on interpreting, conserving and protecting cultural and archaeological heritage.

The agency wants to make Menorca’s talayotic heritage better known and strengthen ties with other World Heritage places. It also hopes to bring back approaches that could help manage and preserve the island’s heritage.
