Menorca jewellery firms head to Milan and Madrid

Three Menorca jewellery firms take new designs to Milan this Saturday and Sunday, where they will meet international buyers and importers. Six more businesses from the island will then attend the Bisutex trade fair in Madrid from 24 to 27 September. Menorca designer Aina Llorens will also enter her collection for the Bisutex Talent awards.

Milan showcase

The firms will exhibit at Milano Fashion & Jewels, a professional trade fair in Milan. The Spanish Association of Fashion Jewellery Manufacturers, Sebime, says their presence in Italy underlines the sector’s export potential, the quality of its finishes and the competitiveness of its manufacturing processes.

Madrid follows

Bisutex will bring together six Menorca companies and Llorens, whose entry is in the running for an award recognising innovation, independent design and emerging talent.

Sebime coordinates both appearances with backing from the Menorca Island Council. The association says the support is vital to ease the extra costs of island production and help Menorca’s makers and designers compete in leading markets. It said shows in Milan and Madrid can help secure orders, open markets and highlight the island’s long-standing craft and industrial expertise.
