Public housing on Menorca sparks a clash in the Balearic parliament on Tuesday, 29 September 2026. PSIB MP Verónica Llufriu says the government is not doing enough to advance public housing on the island. Balearic Housing, Territory and Mobility Minister José Luis Mateo fires back, accusing the PSIB of “demonstrating against itself” over housing.
Mateo also says a housing development planned by Casa 47 on Menorca will not be for residents. Llufriu accuses the regional government of being responsible for residents having to leave their homes. She says it has shown no interest in solving what she calls a dramatic housing situation across the Balearic Islands.
