Menorca debates vehicle access as Ibiza shares results

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Menorca, in the Balearic Islands, puts vehicle access under scrutiny on Thursday: experts meet in Alaior to discuss traffic on the island, while Ibiza shares the first results of its rules on vehicles entering the island. The Gedetur research group is organising the meeting from 09.00 to 13.30 at Can Salort, the Menorca campus of the University of the Balearic Islands.

The debate will consider how much pressure Menorca, a Biosphere Reserve, can bear. Juan Manuel Delgado, responsible for mobility at the Menorca Island Council, will speak about sustainable transport. Roberto Algaba of the Ibiza Island Council will then set out the aims, rollout and first results of Ibiza’s vehicle-entry rules.

Technology and data for managing access are also on the programme. At 12.15, speakers from transport, business, architecture and environmental groups will discuss whether a shared Balearic approach to sustainable travel is possible.
