Mallorca plans 420 mental health workshops for the 2026/2027 school year: young people in vocational education will learn ways to handle stress and anxiety, and recognise when they need help. The Mallorca Island Council started a new round of its Flip Up programme this week. By Friday 9 October, 24 education centres had signed up, with 70 groups taking part.

Making room to talk

The workshops take place in education centres and cover self-awareness, self-esteem, emotions and relationships. They are also intended to help young people speak about their worries and find useful ways to deal with emotional distress. The new round begins as World Mental Health Day approaches on 10 October.

After the first workshops, 213 sought help

Flip Up reached around 4,000 vocational students at 30 education centres across Mallorca in the 2025/2026 school year. After taking part, 213 asked teachers, guidance counsellors or other professionals for emotional support or advice.

The council says evaluations found improvements in how students recognised and expressed feelings, and in their ability to manage stress and anxiety. Teachers also reported closer ties between students and a better atmosphere in classrooms.
