More than 4,000 teenagers in Mallorca will again have access to mental health workshops this school year after the Consell de Mallorca agreed to restore the Flip Up programme. Sessions are due back in classrooms between late September and early October for the 2026-2027 school year.

The programme had faced an initially planned interruption because of an administrative error in the island authority’s handling of the scheme. The Federació de Salut Mental and 3 Salut Mental pressed for a solution, and the federation has welcomed the agreement while calling for lasting stability.

Guillem Febrer, president of the Federació de Salut Mental, said the key point was that teenagers would not lose “a space for prevention and emotional wellbeing”.

213 young people asked for help

Flip Up reached 4,007 pupils in 30 educational centres across Mallorca during the 2025-2026 school year, through 424 workshops. Pupils gave it an average score of 4.2 out of 5, while teachers rated it 4.6 out of 5.

But the federation says the standout figure is 213. That is the number of young people who, after taking part, asked teachers, school guidance teams or other professionals for professional help or emotional advice.

The workshops cover recognising and managing emotions, stress and anxiety, self-esteem, challenging stigma and where to seek support when something is wrong.

Call for a longer-term deal

The federation says the programme’s return is important because it puts prevention work in the places teenagers already attend. It now wants to work with public authorities, organisations, schools and professionals to secure Flip Up beyond the current school year.

It says continuity is needed to keep professional teams together, retain experience and maintain the links built with schools.
