A boat carrying 27 migrants is nine miles west of Cabrera, an island in the Balearics: Spain’s maritime rescue service and the Civil Guard rescue those aboard at about 11am on 18 October 2026.
The Spanish government’s delegation in the Balearic Islands says the migrants are from sub-Saharan Africa. It gives no details of where the boat’s journey began, where it was heading or where the people were taken after the rescue.
