Formentera rescue: 41 migrants saved from two boats

Forty-one migrants were rescued from two small boats in waters near Formentera on Thursday, taking the number intercepted off the island that day to 99.
Salvamento Marítimo and the Guardia Civil went to the aid of the first boat at 17.15. It carried 24 people of North African origin and was 11 miles south-west of Formentera, the Spanish Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands said.
At 17.45, the services rescued a further 17 people of North African origin from a second boat at a similar distance from the island.
