Balearic minimum income reaches 31,676 as average falls
Across the Balearic Islands, including Mallorca, 31,676 people receive Spain’s minimum-income benefit in September. More people get help than a year earlier, but the average payment per household falls. The National Social Security Institute published the figures on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
The benefit, known as Ingreso Mínimo Vital (IMV), has 10,429 active payments across the islands, up 1,673 or 19.1% from a year earlier. The number of people benefiting rises by 5,054. The average payment per household is 495 euros, down 2.9%, while the total paid out in September climbs 12.6% to 5.43 million euros. The figures cover the Balearic Islands as a whole, not Mallorca separately.
Across Spain, the benefit reaches 905,792 households containing 2,761,686 people. The average is 501.5 euros a month per household, with nearly 479.3 million euros paid out in September.
