Balearics minimum income reaches 31,276 people

Spain’s minimum-income benefit reached 31,276 people living in 10,287 households across the Balearic Islands in August. The average payment was €497.48 a month per household. The National Institute of Social Security published the figures on Monday.
€5.5 million paid in August
The August bill for the Balearics came to €5.5 million. That works out at an average of €163.63 a month for each person receiving the benefit.
More people receive support nationwide
Across Spain, the benefit reached 893,820 households containing 2,725,899 people in August. There were 128,915 more active payments than a year earlier, a rise of 16.9%.
Since the scheme began more than six years ago, it has reached over 1.3 million households nationwide and supported more than 3.8 million people.
