Palma man arrested over attack on mother for cash

In Palma, Mallorca, a man punches his mother in the face and kicks her in the abdomen after she refuses to give him more money early on Monday, she tells police. His partner is also hit when she steps between them to protect his mother. The Spanish National Police later arrest him.

The older woman arrives at a police station with visible signs of injury. She says she lives with her son and his partner, and that life at home has been violent for several months as he repeatedly asks her for money.

She says she gave him money that night and he left, but returned a while later asking for more. When she refused, he attacked her. Afterwards, the man and his partner left the home. They came back a few minutes later, when the mother says he hit the controls in a car and broke a wing mirror.

Officers found the man and his partner at the home. She confirmed the mother’s account. Police arrested him on suspicion of two offences of domestic abuse within the family and one of criminal damage.
